Performance Tuning the Golf R

Today we installed a stage 1+ performance tune on our customer’s 2018 Volkswagen Golf R. The procedure is simple and takes about an hour of time for us to complete each tune. The new performance tune will give him an additional 83hp / 70 Ft Lbs of torque, with no other modifications needed. This tune will also optimize the 1/4 throttle range, so while driving in traffic or with the cruise control on, he will see better fuel economy. Just as long as he keeps his foot off the throttle.

Tuning the 2018 Gold RThe customer also has an Automatic Shifting Manual Transmission (ASMT or DSG) in his Golf R. With the engine performance tune, it requires an additional tune for the transmission control module. Not only does it need this for the additional horse power, but it also optimized the shifts timing and removes the gear kick down. Kick down happens when breaking or slowing while turning. This is a common complaint from owners with a DSG transmission.

In just under a two hours, our customer now has 375hp with 350tq and will be getting fuel economy. Additionally, he purchase a Uniconnect+ cable which will allow him to upgrade to a stage 2 at home, scan his car for fault codes and clear them if needed.

Fuel Injector Cleaning & Testing

Fuel Injector Cleaning & Testing

Meister Werks now offers fuel injector cleaning and testing with our new Launch CNC-602a injector tester. This machine can test any range of RPM, leak test, spray pattern and many more. It can also do ultrasonic cleaning and back flush the injector to get 100% of all contaminants out of the injector.

How it works:

We install the injectors into the machine and do an auto test. This tests spray pattern, idle speed spray at 650 RPM, 4500 rpm and 6000 RPM. Furthermore, this test alone, we can determine wether or not the injector is good. If those test pass, we do a leak test which pressurizes the injector while it is closed. You can visually see if the injector is leaking.

If any of the tests fail, we will ultrasonically clean and back flush the injectors. After cleaning we will re test, after which, a full detailed report is presented to the end user prior to the test and cleaning is completion.

On this customers job, the intake runner flaps is faulty. This is the cause of the excessive carbon build up. The faulty runner flap failure is directly related to the bad injectors being driven on for 30,000+ miles w/o repair. Also excess carbon build up issues on Cylinder No.4, No.5 & No.6 was caused directly from faulty injectors. If problem is addressed sooner (at 19,000 miles), these issues would be present today. Current milage is 64,902 miles.

BMW & Mercedes Benz Repair

Merc Bmw VWA few weeks back we had a Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG and a BMW 640i in for some repair.

The E55 AMG had a bad exhaust manifold and both catalytic converters. The customer had taken it to the dealer and they quoted them an exorbitant amount of money to fix this simple problem. We were able to find a after market equivalent for over half the price.

The BWW had a bad alternator and battery which we diagnosed and fixed by the end of the day. The battery had been draining for a while. When this happens it will cause the alternator to run double duty. Furthermore, this will also wear out the electronics in the unit.

The Scirocco is the owner’s personal project car that is in the process of receiving a new Audi engine. So stay tuned on more posts about that car.

605hp Audi R8 v10

Yesterday we installed a stage two Unitronic tune on this 2011 Audi R8 v10. The stage two tune brings the power up to 605 horse power with 440 ft lbs of torque. To be able to do a stage two tune on this Audi, you must upgrade the exhaust. The tune is optimized to flow better with a more free flowing exhaust. It is also recommended to upgrade to a cold air filter. This will also compliment the exhaust upgrade which also allows for more free flowing air to enter into the engine.

The engine tune will also give the Audi better fuel milage at 1/4 throttle. Unitronic optimized this throttle range for when you are driving in stop and go traffic or driving with the cruise control on.

To make everything look aesthetically pleasing, the customer also installed the carbon fiber engine dress up kit. He also had the wheels painted black and tinted the windows and taillights.

SpacersThis week we organized all of our wheels spacers. We have a plethora of thicknesses and sizes in stock. 5, 10, 15 and 20mm are in stock. We have spacers for 5×120 BMW, 5×100 & 5×112 VW /Audi, 4×100 VW and 4×108 Volvo.

On sizes over 5mm, you will need longer or extended lug bolts. We have many sizes and lengths in stock as well. 40mm – 50mm cone or ball seat and 12 x 1.5 and 14 x 1.5 thread sizes.
