Wheel Spacers 5x100 5x112Wheel spacers are designed to push the wheels out a little more from the stock location giving your car a more flush look. These Simply Spacers wheel spacers are made just for Meister Werks. These spacers are made from 6061 T6 aluminum and are made from the same heat treated aluminum wheels are made from.
SpacersThis week we organized all of our wheels spacers. We have a plethora of thicknesses and sizes in stock. 5, 10, 15 and 20mm are in stock. We have spacers for 5×120 BMW, 5×100 & 5×112 VW /Audi, 4×100 VW and 4×108 Volvo.

On sizes over 5mm, you will need longer or extended lug bolts. We have many sizes and lengths in stock as well. 40mm – 50mm cone or ball seat and 12 x 1.5 and 14 x 1.5 thread sizes.

Next, our spacers are also guaranteed to be perfectly hub centric and balanced. These are not like the cheap ones you buy at the auto parts store. They are machined to an exact specification to fit your OEM hubs with no problems.

As we’ve said, we always get the same cars in twos. Last week it was two BMW X5 SUVs. The black BMW X5 was in for oil leak on the drain plug, brakes and brake fluid flush. The silver BMW X5 was in for misfiring. After a thorough inspection we found that most of the coil packs were failing.

The X5 is a mid-size luxury crossover produced by BMW. The first generation of the X5, with the chassis code E53, made its debut in 1999.

Repair

These platforms are known for their cooling system issues. Water pump, thermostat and coolant reservoirs are a common fail point. Next issues we see are oil leaks. Valve cover gaskets are very common and should be taken car of ASAP. If you don’t, you will have oil leak all over the engine which can break down seals, hoses and other engine components. Using the correct coolant is very important. If you don’t use the correct coolant, it could corrode everything in your cooling system.

Brake wear tends to be higher than other vehicles. We commonly do brakes on these platforms. Due to their weight, they tend to wear out rotors faster than other vehicles as well. Modern day rotors are made with a softer compound and the pads with slightly harder. This increases brake wear requiring you to replace all of the components when we do brake jobs.

The last thing we see a lot of is coil packs. They are notorious for coil packs failing. Bad coil packs will cause misfires and is very common.

Meister Werks European & Import in Renton, WA, one block south of The Renton Landing did some custom work last week. We worked on this Mercedes Benz SL500. The customer was leaving on a road trip and wanted to get a few things done before the trip.

We installed the customer’s new wheels and tires and lowering arms on the leveling sensors. This allows the car’s factory air suspension to measure the height lower and will set the car at a lower stance. After installing the leveling arms, we did a four-wheel alignment, which make the alignment centered to avoid any excessive wear that occurs after lowering the Mercedes.

We also installed an Ex-Lip Pro kit on the front bumper and side skirts. Quick detail and some tire shine helped the Mercedes Benz look brand new.

When we finished we performed at courtesy thirty-point inspection on the car. We found a few minor things the customer should be aware of. The more critical item was the brake fluid had a moisture content of +4%. The moisture content can never be above 2%, 0% is the best. We informed the customer that he really needed a flush the brake fluid to prevent any damage to the brake master cylinder or brake calipers. Moisture can break down the system, causing corrosion and make the brakes feel spongy.

Porsche 911 Carrera 4S – Engine Rebuild

Last week at Meister Werks European & Import in Renton, WA, next to The Renton Landing, we completed a engine rebuild on this Porsche 911 / 996 Carrera 4S. We pulled the engine out and found that bank 1 (cylinder 1, 2 & 4) have very low compression on 2 & 3, zero compression on cylinder 1. We knew right away the engine needed a rebuild. The block was stripped all the way down to the block and rebuilt with all new components. This also included new IMS bearings.

Next we had the heads remachined and all new valves installed. That followed by new head gaskets, timing chains and guides. New water pump and other key components were also replaced.

After the entire Porsche engine was finished we restored this engine back to it’s 2004 glory. This AWD Porsche flat 6. 3.6L boxer engine puts out 315 hp and 273 ft lbs tq.

We will also be breaking in the engine for the customer, which takes about 1000 miles. No red line and no excessive idling will be allowed until after the break in period is over. After that period, we will need to drain the break in oil / filter and replace it with fresh oil. After the break in period, the car can be driven normally or taken to the track for some hot laps.

At Meister Werks in Renton, WA next to The Renton Landing, we use high end, state of the art tools to diagnose vehicles such as this Porsche 911, and other European cars, to get to the root cause of why your Porsche is not running correctly.

In this instance we were trying to find which cylinder was misfiring (not in photo). The computer diagnostic equipment said we had a misfire on cylinder #1 and #3, however we were unable to determine if is was one or the other, or both. So with our camera we found that the exhaust pipe from cylinder #1 was cold and not firing.

Not only can we diagnose your Porsche, we  also provide many other service while your Porsche is in the shop as well. We can do the repair, provide factory scheduled service, maintenance, performance modifications and detailing.

As part of our service such as oil changes, coolant flushes and brake service, we also provide you with a courtesy 30pt inspection to make sure everything is in tip top shape.
